Child and Adolescent Mental Health

SHN has a comprehensive mental health program for children and adolescents. The program includes a six-bed inpatient unit, a day hospital, and a crisis team and outpatient child and adolescent mental health delivered at The Shoniker Clinic. The program is designed to provide integrated and seamless services to children and adolescents with significant mental health problems.

ADHD Clinic

The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Clinic provides short-term consultative services for children up to 17 years of age who are experiencing problems related to ADHD. Our team of mental health care therapists and a psychiatrist provides assessment, treatment, and community programming for children, families and helping professionals. A doctor’s referral is necessary to receive services from the ADHD Clinic.

The ADHD Clinic believes in the involvement of parents, teachers, children, community and mental health professionals to work together to provide integrated treatment. Workshops are offered on a regular basis for teachers and schools who work with children being serviced by the ADHD Clinic.

The Shoniker Clinic

The Shoniker Clinic is a child and adolescent mental health clinic that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of significant mental health problems. The clinic accepts physician referrals for youth under the age of 19 who reside in Scarborough, Pickering or Ajax.An interdisciplinary team provides assessments, individual and family therapy, parent education, group therapy and medication management.

First Intervention Treatment Team (FITT)

The First Intervention Treatment Team (FITT) supports young people who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis. This intensive service is offered through Shoniker Clinic, and is available to clients up to the age of 35 who live in Scarborough. Physician referral is required.
