There is a new urgent care service coming to Scarborough! Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is excited to announce the opening of our Urgent Care Centre (UCC) at Centenary Hospital on March 6, 2024. The Centre will offer urgent medical attention for non-life-threatening conditions that do not need to be seen in the Emergency Department (ED).

What can the Urgent Care Centre help with?

As an extension of the ED, the UCC will be staffed by skilled physicians and nurses who treat patients with non-critical sicknesses and injuries, such as:

  • Sports injuries (sprains, strains, broken bones)
  • Deep cuts
  • Minor burns
  • Fevers, coughs and colds
  • Nose, ear, and throat complaints
  • Insect bites
  • Allergies, skin rashes
  • Infections

The Centre will also offer point-of-care testing, casting services, treatment for minor lacerations and wounds, as well as prescriptions and requisitions.

Urgent care services are covered with a valid Ontario health card. It is important for visitors to note that fees may apply for items such as fiberglass casts, crutches, and so on.

Location and hours

The Urgent Care Centre will be located at Centenary Hospital, Medical Mall, 2nd Floor (near the Shoppers as you arrive through the main North entrance). The UCC will be open Monday to Friday, 3 – 7 p.m. and Sunday, 1 – 5 p.m.

Patients can be seen at the Urgent Care Centre on a walk-in basis. Online booking will soon be available, at which point you will be able to access care through an appointment or by walking in.
