Last month, I shared about how Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is embarking on an ambitious capital expansion and renewal project that will ensure our hospitals’ services and facilities meet Scarborough’s evolving needs and transform healthcare for our diverse and growing community.
Now, we are inviting all patients, families, donors, community partners, and Scarborough residents to register for our upcoming Community Forum to explore our Birchmount Hospital’s redevelopment project, on Wednesday, March 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Markham Convention Centre (2901 Markham Road, Scarborough).
This project will double Birchmount Hospital’s current capacity by adding new beds and operating rooms, and expanding services for medicine, surgery, critical and emergency care, mental health care, and stroke and rehabilitation care.
To help design it, we are engaging the people who will use it, in every step of the process. Over the coming months and years, SHN will be connecting with patients, families, physicians, staff, partners, community members, Scarborough residents and other stakeholders about the future of healthcare in Scarborough.
I would also like to invite you to participate in Toronto’s first-ever, family-friendly SHN Zoo Day, on Sunday, June 11 at the Toronto Zoo. Money raised will go towards SHN’s “Love, Scarborough” fundraising campaign, in support of building the new Bridletowne Neighbourhood Centre, innovating diagnostic imaging, expanding emergency care, evolving mental health, and advancing health equity and research. We would be grateful for your support.
I hope you will be able to join us at these important upcoming events. We are committed to incorporating the unique needs of Scarborough into every element of design as we continue to shape the future of healthcare at SHN.
Sincerely,
David Graham
