Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is thrilled to share that Dr. Amir JanMohamed is the new Corporate Chief and Medical Director for our Department of Cardiology!

Dr. JanMohamed completed his internal medicine and cardiology residency and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Toronto. He then completed an additional fellowship in interventional cardiology and angioplasty at the University of Alberta.

He joined SHN in 2003 as a staff cardiologist and became the medical director of the arrhythmia program. Under his leadership, he grew the program from inception to two labs, introduced the advanced devices program, and helped grow the standard and complex invasive electrophysiology and ablations services.

Dr. JanMohamed also played a pivotal role as MSA President collaborating with the medical staff to ensure a seamless clinical transition during the integration of The Scarborough Hospital and Centenary Hospital to SHN. He also was an ex-officio board member from 2016-2019.

SHN looks forward to the advancement of cardiac care for patients of our community under Dr. JanMohamed’s leadership. His commitment to teaching and passion for research will also help grow education and research in cardiology. SHN will support his vision for the cardiology program in line with our network’s plan to build the future of care in Scarborough.

Our organization also acknowledges Dr. Ted Davies, who offered his exceptional leadership as the inaugural SHN Corporate Chief of Cardiology for the past six years. During his tenure, Dr. Davies successfully recruited ten new cardiologists with specialized cardiac expertise to serve our Scarborough community.

SHN is excited for the future of cardiac health in Scarborough and the continual improvement of care for our patients under the capable leadership of Dr. JanMohamed.
