It is our pleasure to introduce Scarborough Health Network’s newest physicians in our Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Anesthesiology programs, who joined our team this past December and January!

Dr. Anuja Bhalerao

Dr. Anuja Bhalerao has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Dr. Bhalerao completed her Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residency training at Queen’s University.  She has been involved in research initiatives and published in peer reviewed journals and received the 2022 Sparkly Glue Award, the nomination was by co-residents and is awarded annually to a Family Medicine resident who has demonstrated overall support, inclusiveness, and general positive outlook.

Dr. Jack Chou

Emergency Physician, Trauma Team Lead, CPoCUS Acute Care and Resuscitation Master Instructor.

Dr. Jack Chou has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Following his Emergency Medicine fellowship at University of Saskatchewan, Regina, Dr. Chou worked both full scope Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine in Saskatchewan before working as an Emergency Physician and Trauma Team Lead at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg for the last 5 years. Dr. Chou has been involved in research initiatives and published in peer reviewed journals.  He is heavily involved with Sims and ultrasound teaching in the CCFP(EM) and FRCPC programs, and he is humbled to join the diverse talents of the Scarborough Health Network team.

Dr. Travis Graetz

Dr. Travis Graetz has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Following the completion of his undergraduate degree and then primary care paramedic certification in British Columbia, Dr. Graetz attended medical school at the University of Limerick in the Republic of Ireland, before completing both his Family Medicine residency and the Emergency Medicine fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Graetz is also completing his Point-of-Care Ultrasound Fellowship at SHN and he is excited for this next chapter and is looking forward to serving Scarborough!

Dr. Tej-Jaskirat (Jessie) Grewal

Dr. Jessie Grewal has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Following her Family Medicine residency at the University of Toronto, Dr. Grewal completed her Emergency Medicine residency training at Western University.  Dr. Grewal has been involved in research initiatives and published in peer reviewed journals and received the 2021 and 2022 MD Program Teaching Award of Excellence from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Grewal is fluent in English, Punjabi (oral fluency) and Hindi (oral fluency).

Dr. Jeyanth Inkaran

Dr. Jeyanth Inkaran has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Following his Family Medicine Residency training at University of Toronto, Dr. Inkaran completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Queens University.  He has been involved in research initiatives and published in peer reviewed journals and received the 2022 Hospital Hero Award from Belleville General, he was nominated by a patient for outstanding and compassionate care.  Dr. Inkaran is excited to return to Scarborough and join the team at SHN. He is looking forward to meeting everyone!

Dr. Thomas Kirkham

Dr. Thomas Kirkham has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

He completed his undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University then hopped over to medical school at the University College Cork in Ireland.  He was fortunate enough to match to University of Toronto Family Medicine and finished his residency training at Scarborough Health Network in 2022.  Dr. Kirkham then went on to complete the year of enhanced skills in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto and he is also completing his Point-of-Care Ultrasound Fellowship at SHN.  Dr. Kirkham has been involved in research initiatives and published in peer reviewed journals and received the 2022 DFCM Postgraduate Award for Clinical Excellence from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Kirkham is glad to be back in Scarborough and he looks forward to continuing to work with such an amazing team and community. Outside of the ED, he enjoys playing tennis, running, and exploring the great outdoors.

Dr. Sam Lambert

Dr. Sam Lambert has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

After completing his undergraduate degree in business and working in sales for 2 years, Dr. Lambert decided to make the switch to medicine. He completed his medical degree at McMaster University and then went on to do his Family Medicine residency training here in Scarborough followed by his Emergency Medicine fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Lambert has been involved in research initiatives and is thrilled to be back at SHN serving our incredible patient population!  Outside of medicine, Dr. Lambert loves good food, exercise and traveling the world.  He was also the winner of The Amazing Race, Canada, Season 5.

Dr. Vincent Luong

Dr. Vincent Luong has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Following his Family Medicine Residency training at McMaster University, Dr. Luong completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Western University.  Dr. Luong has been involved in research initiatives in Quality Improvement and Immunology.

Dr. Shihan Rajasingham

Dr. Shihan Rajasingham has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Following his Family Medicine residency at Schulich School of Medicine in London, Ontario Dr. Rajasingham completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine.  He has been involved in research initiatives and brings a holistic approach to patient care, Beyone medicine.  Dr. Rajasingham’s passions include art, photography, eating a variety of cuisine, travel, and music. His diverse interests reflect his commitment to a well-rounded, compassionate approach to healthcare.

Dr. Fang Zhou (Faith) Xu

Dr. Fang Zhou (Faith) Xu has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network.

Following her Family Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Xu completed her Emergency Medicine training at Western University. She worked as an emergency medicine physician at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie for the two years before joining us at SHN in July 2023. Dr. Xu is excited to be involved in more medical education and thrilled to be joining to the diverse talents of the SHN team.

Dr. Ba Hoang Nguyen (Nathan) Pham

Dr. Ba Hoang Nguyen (Nathan) Pham has joined the Department of Anesthesiology at Scarborough Health Network and will be primarily based out of the General campus.

Following his Anesthesia residency training at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Chicago, IL, Dr. Pham completed his Pain Medicine training at Yale New Haven Hospital.  He has published in several peer reviewed journals and has been involved in research initiatives. Dr. Pham is bilingual in English and Vietnamese.

Dr. Bernize Van Wyk

Dr. Bernize Van Wyk has joined the Department of Anesthesiology at Scarborough Health Network and will be primarily based out of the Centenary campus.

Following her postgraduate training at University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and University of the Free State Bloemfontein, South Africa, Dr. Van Wky completed her Anesthesia residency training at the University of Toronto.  She has experience as a General Practitioner and GP Anesthetist at Kitimat General Hospital, British Columbia and as an Anesthesia Locum at Mills Memorial Hospital, British Columbia.

Dr. Michael Borchuk

Dr. Michael Borchuk has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative at Scarborough Health Network.

Following his Family Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Borchuk completed a fellowship in Palliative Care Enhanced Skills at the University of Toronto.  He has experience as a Palliative Care Physician at Lakeridge Health, Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, William Osler Health System and as an attending physician at a few Long Term Care Centres.  Dr. Borchuk has published in peer reviewed journals and received the 2018 University of Toronto – DFCM Aware of Excellence in Patient Advocacy which was awarded to a University of Toronto family medicine resident who epitomizes patient advocacy.

Dr. Cassandra Graham

Dr. Cassandra Graham has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative at Scarborough Health Network.

Following her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Graham completed a fellowship in Palliative Care at the University of Toronto.  She has experience as a Locum Palliative Care Physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Locum General Internist at Toronto Western Hospital (UHN) and most recently as a TWH In-patient Palliative Care consult service, Kensington Hospice Inpatient Team at Toronto Western Hospital (UHN).  Dr Graham has also published in several peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Cam Matamoros

Dr. Cam Matamoros has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative Care at Scarborough Health Network.

Dr. Matamoros completed their Family Medicine residency training at University of Toronto and also earned an MA in Theoretical Linguistics and a BFA in InterMedia/CyberArts, both from Concordia University in Montreal. Their prior work experience includes nearly 2 decades in both frontline and administrative leadership roles in harm reduction and health promotion, often at the intersection of creative arts programming. 

Dr. Matamoros has just finished their first year of independent practice, including community palliative care with Scarborough’s Palliative Care Community Team (ongoing) and a 6-month locum with Palliative Education and Care for the Homeless (PEACH), as well as inpatient care at Casey House and on the PCU at Michael Garron. Their academic work is focused on improving palliative care for sexual and gender minorities and increasing palliative care providers’ comfort with harm reduction approaches to care.  Dr. Matamoros received the 2022 DFCM Postgraduate Award for Advocacy for Patients and has published in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Lilian Robinson

Dr Lilina Robinson has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative at Scarborough Health Network.

Following her Family Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr Robinson completed her Palliative Care training at the University of Toronto.  She has various teaching experiences in Palliative Care and Family and Community Medicine at University of Toronto, Mount Sinai Hospital and Western University.  Dr Robinson has published in several peer reviewed journals and has been involved in research initiatives.

Dr. Susan Thouin

Dr Susan Thouin has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative at Scarborough Health Network.

Following her Family Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Thouin completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto before a change of scope of practice to Palliative Care. 

She has experience as an associate physician in Emergency Medicine at Lakeridge Health, Markham Stouffville Hospital and Scarborough Health Network, a resident physician at Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Community and most recently as an associate physician at Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, Mount Sinai Hospital.  Dr Thouin has published in peer reviewed journals, is the Founder, Voices Rock Medicine Choir (Women Physicians) and received the 2018 MD Program Teaching Award of Excellence at the University of Toronto.
