On March 2, SHN is hosting a South Asian Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Event in partnership with Scarborough Ontario Health Team and Regional Cancer Centres. Attend for open discussions about the impact of lacking medical awareness in South Asian communities and a same-day mammogram!

Studies have shown that South Asian individuals are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer at a later stage, and less likely to be screened for breast cancer at the provincial recommended age. By increasing awareness and breast screenings within medically underrepresented communities, we can help reduce barriers to equitable health care.

What to expect

  • Expert panels and patients with lived experience
  • Same-day screening mammograms performed by women (bring your health card!)
  • Cultural dance/yoga
  • Goodie bags, lunch and much more!
