We are outraged and deeply saddened by the unspeakable hatred, Islamophobia and terrorism that took place in London, Ontario yesterday evening.
Scarborough Health Network (SHN) condemns this horrific act of violence. We mourn the loss of the London family targeted and killed because of their Muslim faith. We mourn the inevitable trauma and grief felt by the young survivor. To members of the Muslim community, we mourn together with you. We extend our support to our staff and community members of Muslim faith for the pain these incidents have caused.
Racism, intolerance and bigotry have no place in our hospitals, our community, or anywhere. We stand against racism and violence and are committed to listening, understanding and continuing to put policies and practices into action that ensure equitable, compassionate and inclusive care for all.
