Getting screened for breast cancer may save your life.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is encouraging community members to put their health and well-being first by booking a mammogram this month.

Did you know?

·      Detecting breast cancer early means treatment has a better chance of working.
·      One in eight women will get breast cancer in her life.
·      More people in Ontario survive breast cancer than almost every other cancer.
·      The Ontario Breast Screening Program provides breast screening throughout the province to all eligible people.

SHN takes every precaution to continue offering high quality and safe breast cancer screening exams throughout COVID. If you are due or overdue for your mammogram, it’s time to get re-screened.

As a partner hospital of the Central East Regional Cancer Program, SHN is encouraging Ontario women over 50 to talk to their family doctor or nurse practitioner about getting checked for breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Ontario women.
