General Information
Scarborough Health Network (SHN) offers two General Internal Medicine (GIM) Clinics at our Centenary and Birchmount hospitals, providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for patients needing short-term care from an internal medicine specialist who have been:
- Discharged from the hospital after being admitted for an acute visit;
- Have had a hospital visit that did not involve going through the Emergency Department but requires follow-up; or
- Have been referred by a primary care physician.
In addition, the clinic provides consultation to family practice for patients with acute medical issues or patients with multiple complex medical problems.

Referrals to specialists are based on the medical needs of our patients.
