September was an exciting month that culminated with our best news yet: we celebrated a history-making donation of $75 million from the Orlando Corporation with our partners at the University of Toronto Scarborough—the largest donation ever for Scarborough.
As part of their gift, Orlando Corporation has pledged $15 million in a unique matching challenge. Orlando Corporation will match every donation—dollar for dollar—to our hospitals. That means your donation has double the impact, so I encourage you to donate now, if you are in a position to support Scarborough Health Network (SHN).
This historic gift will further support our goal of growing SHN to meet the needs of our community well into the future, with $50 million directly supporting the redevelopment of SHN’s Birchmount Hospital, mental health needs, and other urgent priorities, and $25 million supporting the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health at the University of Toronto Scarborough.
We have continued to build on the momentum from the province’s $1.2-billion funding commitment to SHN earlier this year, and we look forward to realizing our future facilities and capital projects. It is incredibly rewarding to see our efforts in shaping the future of care at SHN come closer to reality.
