Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH) celebrated children who were cared for in the hospital’s three neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at a special event to recognize World Prematurity Day.
World Prematurity Day is a globally-renowned educational event that raises awareness about premature births, while also enhancing and celebrating the lives of “preemies” and their families.
Toronto City Council unanimously approved lease terms for the Bridletowne Neighbourhood Centre (BNC) at their monthly Council meeting earlier today. Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH) along with the YMCA of Greater Toronto welcome this exciting development in the progress of this important community infrastructure project.

As Canada marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH) has unveiled its first ‘end of treatment bell’ for the Paediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) satellite paediatric oncology clinic at the Centenary site. This very special bell will be rung by children when they complete their cancer treatment in the clinic.
Scarborough and Rouge Hospital to receive grant to plan and construct new
chronic kidney disease facility.
At an announcement earlier today, Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, committed to expanding dialysis services within Scarborough and Rouge Hospital’s (SRH) Chronic Kidney Disease program.
“SRH is honoured to receive this support from the Government of Ontario that will allow us to begin the planning and construction of a new community-based facility to meet the growing needs of Scarborough residents,” said Liz Buller,
Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH) has received nearly $5 million in funding through the government of Ontario’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) to make upgrades and repairs across all three of its sites.

Scarborough and Rouge Hospital’s (SRH) General site has received rebates from Enbridge Gas and Toronto Hydro totalling more than $62,000 for the hospital’s work to improve energy efficiency.
A rebate of $45,614 was awarded by Enbridge Gas for installing a Flue Gas Economizer in the boiler room to establish better steam plant efficiency.
