Over 1,000 paper cranes from across the Greater Toronto Area make up a community art project, aimed at tributing all frontline healthcare workers who have worked tirelessly during the global pandemic.
Emerging artists May Chan pieced together the video, which encapsulates the colourful and intricate displays – often connected to signify unity.
Chan says the video is meant as a thank you gift for staff and volunteers working within hospitals, long-term care homes, COVID-19 testing centres and vaccination clinics, as well as those who have been travelling to patients’ homes to provide personal care and medical support.
The video premiered on July 26, and Chan says since then, she has continued to receive additional submissions which will be filed for a possible second instalment.
