Scarborough Health Network’s VaxFacts Clinic is the first of its kind in Canada, supporting community members and families in Scarborough and across the country to get the most accurate information about vaccines and treatments for diseases like mpox (Monkeypox) and COVID-19, childhood vaccines, flu vaccines, and preventative health counselling. Our doctors understand that you may be uncertain, have concerns, or just want to learn more — and are ready to talk, listen, answer your questions.

VaxFacts Doctors
You can book an appointment to do a call with one of our expert doctors. We can do telephone consultations in more than 200 languages. Our team of doctors includes family physicians, pediatricians, obstetricians and other qualified specialists.

Services
COVID-19 Vaccines and Treatments
Since launching in April 2021, SHN’s VaxFacts Clinic has been helping individuals, parents and families with questions about COVID-19 vaccines. We’re here to talk about everything, including: difference in vaccines, getting booster doses, pediatric vaccines, and more.
We also can provide information on COVID-19 drug therapies for prevention and treatment among vulnerable and at-risk populations. This includes helping you to understand who’s eligible for Paxlovid and remdesivir, and how to access these therapeutics.
Cancer Screening
Our trusted physicians are experts in cancers of the colon, breast, and cervix – all of which have a high cure rate, if caught early. Your physician will walk you through all of the cancer screening tests you are eligible for, and answer your questions along the way. When you are ready, your physician will help you take the next step to complete your cancer screening test.
Monkeypox and Other Infectious Diseases
SHN’s VaxFacts Clinic is expanding services to help with questions you may have about other infectious diseases and global outbreaks impacting our community, such as monkeypox. Our physicians will provide accurate and up to date information, including on how to access vaccines and treatments.

We’re here to help with other related questions you may have. Whether you would like information on childhood vaccines, flu vaccines, want to learn more about how to stay safe in new COVID waves, or are looking for preventative health counselling, our doctors are ready to talk.
Specialized Consultation Streams
In collaboration with the Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario (BPAO), SHN’s VaxFacts Clinic is pleased to offer a separate stream for Black communities to access culturally-safe vaccine information. This VaxFacts service is meant for members of Black communities to have a safe space to discuss vaccines with a trusted healthcare provider who is also from the Black community.

The Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario is a not-for profit organization that established the Black Health Vaccine Initiative (built in partnership with the Black Health Alliance and community partners) to address Black health inequities related to the pandemic.
Black communities are disproportionately impacted by the burden of COVID-19. Because of experiences in anti-Black racism, vaccine distrust is higher in Black communities than any other group. It is imperative that Black communities have access to health resources meeting their diverse needs, including access to Black culturally-safe care and resources regarding COVID-19.
The COVID-19 Vaccine Consult Service at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and SHN’s VaxFacts Clinic are working together to provide focused consultation on the COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant and breastfeeding people across Ontario. This initiative reflects the long-time partnership between SickKids and SHN to deliver leading services for families and communities.
For pregnant and breastfeeding individuals using the SickKids Consult Service, if they require individual medical guidance after their initial appointment with a SickKids registered nurse, they will be then receive a follow-up phone consultation with SHN physicians and obstetricians from the VaxFacts Clinic.
