Training the next generation of healthcare professionals
These are exciting times for the expansion of education at SHN—from growing the number of learners at our hospitals, to starting redevelopment and planning construction of teaching spaces, to preparing to welcome the first cohort of the University of Toronto’s new Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) in 2027—and we are inviting you to share in this journey.
Launching today are all-new SHN Education social media channels, featuring the stories, news, and faculty and learners behind our transformations. Follow us on Instagram, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
We have also refreshed our Medical Education web page, including providing a news feed and team directory, and sharing our 2024-2029 Education Strategy. The page features a message from Dr. Samir Grover, Executive Vice President, Academics, which further outlines the many opportunities that lie ahead as we advance SHN Education’s mission to “Educate, inspire and, empower learners to advance healthcare excellence and innovation within the diverse community we serve.”
These channels will highlight our unwavering commitment to becoming Canada’s leading community teaching network. By integrating education at the heart of SHN, we are fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence, and bringing cutting-edge training, research, and expertise right to our hospital—both of which will benefit our entire community. We believe that education is a direct investment in shaping the future of care.
I would also like to recognize that February 10-14 is Resident Doctors Appreciation Week and extend my appreciation for the incredible dedication and hard work of our resident doctors at SHN.
