Scarborough Health Network’s (SHN) Board of Directors has elected Diane Sinhuber as its new Chair and welcomed three new directors, following this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 12 at Birchmount Hospital.

The Board also welcomed Paul Clark, Ali Ghiassi, and Tahira Hassan as new Directors, and appointed Ali Suleman, who has served on SHN’s Board of Directors since 2022, as the new Board Liaison to SHN’s Community Advisory Council, a role previously held by Diane. Biographies for all Board members are available at SHN.ca/Board.

“Scarborough is one of the most diverse and dynamic communities in Canada, and our healthcare system must reflect that strength,” said Diane.

“As Board Chair, I’m committed to ensuring SHN leads with innovation, equity, and compassion—so each of the 850,000 people we serve across Scarborough and beyond receives the care they deserve, regardless of background or circumstance.”

Diane first joined the Board of Directors in 2022 after a distinguished 38-year career in finance, where her leadership earned her prestigious honours including becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (FCPA), and receiving a Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award and Ontario Volunteer Service Award. She also serves on the Ontario Pension Board and First National Financial Board. Her deep ties to Scarborough—through her family’s connections to SHN and her leadership in organizations like the YMCA of Greater Toronto and the Kidney Foundation of Canada—fuel her commitment to advancing local healthcare solutions, as shown by her support of the Love, Scarborough fundraising campaign.

The Board of Directors extends its gratitude to outgoing Chair Matt Ainley, who has served in this role since 2021. His leadership, dedication, and invaluable contributions to SHN were instrumental in advancing healthcare initiatives and strengthening the organization’s impact within Scarborough. The Board also thanks Karen Webb, who has served as a Director since 2016, for her steadfast commitment, strategic insight, and advocacy for patient-centred care throughout her tenure.

Now in the second year of our Strategic Plan 2024-2029, SHN continues to lead transformational projects that will shape the future of care, from welcoming more medical learners and boosting research capacity, to breaking ground on major redevelopment projects and expanding access to exceptional quality care.

The 2025-2026 Board of Directors looks forward to another exciting year ahead. The next Board meeting will take place in the fall, with details to be posted on SHN.ca and shared on social media.
