On Saturday, September 28, SHN is hosting a Filipino Breast Health and Awareness Workshop in partnership with Scarborough Ontario Health Team, Regional Cancer Centres and other key partners. Attend for open discussions about the impact of lacking medical awareness in the Filipino community and a same-day mammogram!

Studies have shown that Filipino individuals are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer at a later stage, and less likely to be screened for breast cancer at the provincial recommended age. By increasing awareness and breast screenings within medically underrepresented communities, we can help reduce barriers to equitable health care.

What to expect

  • Expert panels and patients with lived experience
  • Same-day screening mammograms performed by women (bring your health card!)
  • Line dancing and wellness activities
  • Goodie bags, lunch and much more!
