Breast health workshop empowers Scarborough’s Filipino community
In September 2024, SHN gathered health and community partners to host the Filipino Breast Health and Awareness Workshop. This was SHN’s largest breast health event with 98 participants, helping to raise awareness and encourage screening among different ethnic communities in Scarborough.
South Asian community members attend breast cancer screening event
In March 2024, SHN, with community partners, held an event for the South Asian community to raise awareness about breast cancer, breast health stigma, and cultural impacts to health. The event offered expert panels of healthcare workers and patients with lived experience sharing information on preventative screening, treatment options, and how mental health and nutrition play a role in modifiable breast cancer risks and recovery.
