Dr. Paul Tam, Chief and Medical Director of Nephrology, has been honoured with the distinguished Mastership (MACP) by the American College of Physicians (ACP) for the year of 2024-25. This prestigious recognition is given to a select number of physicians who demonstrate exceptional practice of internal medicine, academic contributions to their specialty, and service to the ACP.
Dr. Tam’s recognition emphasizes his exceptional expertise and commitment to improving patient outcomes within his work at the centre of excellence that is SHN’s Regional Nephrology Program – the largest regional nephrology program in the province.
His colleagues and peers, without his prior knowledge, compiled a dossier detailing his extensive contributions, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence in nephrology. This honor reflects not only his clinical expertise but also his dedication to social justice and advocacy for high standards in medical practice.
This is Dr. Tam’s second award from the ACP, following his receipt of the Laureate Award in 2023, which celebrated his exemplary commitment as a Fellow of the ACP.
As a distinguished nephrologist, he continues to inspire and mentor the next generation of physicians, embodying the core values of integrity, compassion, and leadership that the ACP seeks in its Mastership recipients.
