October 8 marks the official launch of the government of Ontario’s expansion of the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) to include eligible people ages 40 to 49. This means that Ontarians can begin routine breast screenings without referral if they are between the ages of 40 and 74, as opposed to the previous range of 50 to 74.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Scarborough Health Network (SHN) encourages our community members to get screened. It is recommended that you get a routine mammogram every 2 years if you are between the ages of 40 and 74. SHN has Breast Health Clinics at each of our Birchmount, Centenary and General Hospitals. As Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) designated sites, our clinics can provide faster, simpler breast cancer screening for our community.

SHN’s DI department offers appointments for mammograms at each of our hospitals. To schedule an appointment with any of SHN’s Breast Health Clinics, please call central booking at 416-431-8167.
