In collaboration with 20 of Scarborough’s long-term care (LTC) and retirement homes, Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is contributing valuable resources and expertise to support the delivery of safe, high quality care for vulnerable residents and frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SHN holds a wide range of pandemic expertise, with dedicated nurses, environmental services staff, infection prevention and control (IPAC) staff, social workers, and personal support workers providing: COVID-19 testing; cleaning; IPAC and workplace health and safety assessments; crisis and palliative support; resident care; and education. Carefirst Seniors and Community Services Association is generously providing transportation to and from the homes for SHN staff.
Jointly with Toronto Public Health; the Ministry of LTC; and Ontario Health East Home and Community Care, SHN is dedicated to bringing the province’s COVID-19 Action Plan for Protecting Long-Term Care Homes to life.

SHN will also equip LTC and retirement care homes with the knowledge and tools they need to maintain enhanced levels of protection for residents and staff during the pandemic going forward.
