Just shy of two years since the merger of Scarborough’s three community hospitals, today Scarborough and Rouge Hospital is adopting its new, permanent name: Scarborough Health Network (SHN)!
“Congratulations and thank you to all who played a role in bringing us to this special day: our staff, physicians, volunteers, donors, patients and families, community partners, elected officials, and Scarborough residents,” said Maureen Adamson, SHN Board Chair.
The transformation to SHN is the result of months of planning and engagement with the Scarborough community, hospital staff, and physicians.
“Credit for our new name and brand really belongs to the people of Scarborough; those who live and work here,” said Elizabeth Buller, SHN President and CEO.
“When we were out talking to our community, staff, and physicians, we heard loudly and clearly – and almost unanimously – that Scarborough must be a part of our new name and look. In fact, the shape you see in our logo is the shape of Scarborough on a map.
“Guided by our bold new strategic plan, we’re working to re-imagine the future of health care – designing state-of-the-art infrastructure, equipping our staff and physicians with the latest technology, and creating a better way for our patients to access world-class treatment,” added Buller.
“This is a remarkable moment for our community, one that truly brings home the notion that a healthier tomorrow starts in Scarborough,” said Dr. Dick Zoutman, Chief of Staff at SHN.
