Scarborough Health Network (SHN)’s Community Advisory Council (CAC) led an open community forum on March 2, where participants discussed the Mental Health and Addictions Program – a key priority identified by the CAC.
Community members, SHN community partners, staff and other key stakeholders joined together to learn about accessing mental health and addiction services in Scarborough. Participants heard directly from, and engaged with, community care providers, as well as those with lived experience – shaping an inspiring and eye opening evening.
Following the educational session, participants took part in interactive discussions within their randomly assigned groups. Facilitators moderated the discussions that aimed to better understand challenges that exist in accessing mental health and addictions supports and services and how the barriers identified can potentially be addressed.
