October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is committed to spreading accurate information about breast health and preventative screenings. It is recommended to have a mammogram every 2 years if you’re between the ages of 50 and 74. We encourage our community to come in for a screening and stay informed about best breast health practices.

At SHN, we have Breast Health Clinics at each of our Birchmount, Centenary and General Hospitals. As Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) designated sites, our clinics can provide faster, simpler breast cancer screening for our community. Read below for more information on booking a mammogram.

SHN also takes this time to recognize the various programs and teams involved the journey of care for breast cancer patients. This includes diagnostic imaging (DI), surgery, and cancer care services. SHN thanks these programs for their support of our community’s breast health.
