Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring (Holter Monitor)
A Holter is a test to evaluate the rhythm of your heart over a specified period of time (between 48 and 72 hours and 14 days).
What should I do to prepare for the test?
No specific preparation is necessary. Continue to take your medications as prescribed by your physician.
How long is the test?
It takes about 15-30 minutes from the time of arrival until the Holter monitor is installed.
What will happen during the test?
The ECG technician will place three electrodes on your chest and hook them up to a small machine that is carried with a small pouch around your neck.
You will be given a diary sheet on which your symptoms and the time in which they occur should be written down.
The test will be read and reported by a cardiologist and that report will go to your doctor.
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
A blood pressure monitor is a test to evaluate your blood pressure over a period of 24 hours.
What should I do to prepare for the test?
No specific preparation is necessary. Continue to take your medications as prescribed by your physician.
How long is the test?
It takes about 15-30 minutes from the time of arrival until the blood pressure monitor is installed.
What will happen during the test?
The ECG technician will place the blood pressure cuff around your arm and instruct you on how to use it.
The test will be read and reported by a cardiologist and that report will go to your doctor.
